A historic road along the steep fjord cliffs between Tjelmeland and Teigland. Construction began in 1937 and advanced during WWII when around 1,000 men worked on it. The engineering is remarkably high quality given the extreme terrain — sheer cliff faces dropping directly into the fjord. Bypassed when the Markhus Tunnel opened in 1995, it is now a scenic route for walking, cycling, or driving.
