More info about the project
By purchasing a step on this trail, you’ll become part of the cultural heritage of Åkrafjorden, climbing up the 650-meter steep Langfoss. The first construction phase of the trail will stretch 1,070 meters, covering 345 meters of elevation gain. This dramatic waterfall is part of the UNESCO-certified Geopark Sunnhordland and has been ranked by CNN as one of the world's 10 most beautiful waterfalls.
The Sherpa's have already started
September 2nd, Sherpas from the village of Kunde in Nepal arrived at Åkrafjorden to begin building the steps along Langfoss. The project is managed by the company Stibyggaren AS under the leadership of Geirr Vetti. Once complete, the enhanced trail will offer one of Norway’s most iconic and beautiful hikes. Thousands of nature enthusiasts, both local and international, are expected to enjoy the trail annually, offering breathtaking views of the waterfall, the fjord, and Folgefonna National Park.
The result
When the work is done, the trail will consist of approximately 1,700 steps, but these will be built in phases. In the first phase, we are offering 250 steps for sale, each with an accompanying plaque made of electropolished aluminum – a highly durable material. You can place your company name, your own name, a dedication to someone special, or any unique message – the only limit is your imagination!
